I am so pissed!!!!!!!!

Mazderati 11-09-2003 02:46 PM

I would take full advatage of the warranty.

j200pruf 11-09-2003 02:58 PM

Send it back to Rob, but then again if you have to pay shipping, it might cost about the same amount to have someone local fix it.

banzaitoyota 11-09-2003 03:05 PM

Pineapple has been putting out too many engines that have to go back for warrenty work lately. I don't want to play cross-country engine swap anymore

93 R1 11-09-2003 03:19 PM

Ito is so backed up right now its not even funny, thats probably why he isn't calling back.

Ask me how I know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

88IntegraLS 11-09-2003 04:22 PM

I was in a similar situation when I pinched one of my coolant O rings during assembly of my first rebuild.

I ordered four new telfon encapsulated coolant O rings from McMaster-Carr for ~$45, pulled, disassembled, and reassembled my engine and had the car running in about 10 hours of labor.

You know you want to reassemble that thing yourself! Rotary engine builders are hard to find, but the knowlege necessary to do it yourself is not hard to acquire, nor is the task itself difficult.

1Revvin7 11-09-2003 04:27 PM

Good question its a tie between sending it back and doing it yourself...

Thanks messed up you have to pay shipping because they fucked up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

banzaitoyota 11-09-2003 05:14 PM

I know I can do it. Thats not the point. I paid big $$$$ for an engine thats screwed!

93 R1 11-09-2003 05:32 PM

tell them to do it, and they need to pay shipping, or else

thats why you got the warenty and you should definately take full advantage of it. pineapple was very good to me, with their customer service department. Rob will probably have it done quickly, and do a good job for you.

Yeah a warranty is there for a reason.I would tell them to pay the shipping for the return of the motor seeing as it is not your faulty that motor was ****.

it depends on your rate, between $100-200 one way

mike

banzaitoyota 11-10-2003 12:03 PM

shipping was 175 each way 350 total

vosko 11-10-2003 12:04 PM

that's not cool. downloading the vid

Nemesis 11-10-2003 12:10 PM

Shipping for my motor from TX to VA is only $95 through Gorlc. You can check out their webpage, get quotes, terminal locations, etc. Engines are class 85, and a block weighs 225lb, longblock 350lb.

TyresmokinRx7 11-10-2003 12:17 PM

Damm, that's alot of smoke.

banzaitoyota 11-10-2003 12:41 PM

R&L does not serve the NW, trust me I know how to ship crap

What is the part number for these O rings?

banzaitoyota 11-10-2003 05:53 PM

Well, interesting approach from PINEAPPLE, Spoke with JOEL; after being unable to get in touch with ROB. Joels solution: "Just run some PRESTONE block sealer in it"

Sounds like Joel doesnt' know **** or is blowing u off.

I would like to see block sealer used when a piston engine blows a head gasket, it doesn't work.

amp 11-10-2003 08:47 PM

if i recall correctly..

some of the porting issues comin from the pineapple camp..

..was from their additional help as rob was beginning to spread duties..

possibly to include rebuilding...the issue may lie in quality control..

93 R1 11-10-2003 09:44 PM

So you spend $3500-5000 on a motor and they tell you to put block sealer in it?

I'd tell Joel to shove it up his ******* ass.

Badog 11-10-2003 10:01 PM

Wow!

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif I bet he has never saw the internals of a 13b either then.I give it 2000 miles before it gets worse running that crap in your motor.

Just run block sealer ? WTF ????? I would've cursed his ass out right there. Block sealer will **** up your radiator, waterpump, etc.... But that's besides the point. THey need to rebuild it and fix the prob. Call my boy David Biggers if you want to go with an independent Rotary engine builder who knows his ****. PM me for Dave's contact info. if you are interested.

pengaru 11-11-2003 02:46 AM

hahaha

banzai, just have them ship you a gasket set for the rebuild and do it yourself.

this is so retarded, block sealer, wtf?

note to self: do not use pineapple racing.

banzaitoyota 11-11-2003 09:32 AM

Just had a long conversation with Dave W. at Evans Cooling. There are no known issues with Evans NPG+ and Teflon-Encapsulated Viton O-Rings or Plain Viton O-rings.

Still waiting to hear from Pineapple Racing.

banzaitoyota 11-11-2003 09:34 AM

Here it what I am thinking:

I will pull the engine and tear it down, WITH A VIDEO CAMERA RUNNING the whole time, that way we can see what actually came in the engine!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

lol yeah, you have an autox to go to....

banzaitoyota 11-11-2003 12:25 PM

Just got ahold of Rob. He is going to go thru the engine and tranny again. e asked me to perform a couple of quick tests before I pull it out. Will keep everyone posted. He is also concerned about the dyno results I had with this engine. John

That is terrible. I'd respond with, how about this, if you drink a bottle of that crap and surive the week I'll put it in my motor.

Try to conduct all your communication with them through email or snail mail. This will allow you to build a paper trail of the transaction. At the very least it reduces the chance of a misunderstanding. Remember, you can rarely foresee yourself being screwed over. For this reason you have to adhere to certain policies at all times.

I believe coolant seals cannot be reused after a motor has been cracked open. I would ask for the old ones back to give them less incentive to reuse them. I think it's more than reasonable to expect them to cover the shipping charges.

I've spoken to Rob a couple times and he seems like a very nice guy. Chances are everything will work out.

banzaitoyota 11-19-2003 09:57 AM

I am really starting to have second thoughts about letting Pineapple TOUCH my engine under the so-called warrenty.

I hate linking to the evil forum but read this:

SPD Racing FC 11-19-2003 01:22 PM

That's a bummer bro, hope everything works out for you.

UniqueTII 11-19-2003 01:34 PM

Damn, and I thought they were one of the few builders around without a bad reputation.

Apex13B 11-19-2003 09:13 PM

First off, block sealer does not harm your waterpump and radiator if you follow the directions on the back of the bottle, moron. I have used block sealer with great success in an emergency situation/urgent water leaking out of motor on the false grid situation. You flush the stuff out, schmuck

Second, john send the motor back its under warranty and rob will fix it. Make sure you tell him that you have already shared your misfortune on the internet and with the RX7/rotary community, and it would be unwise for his business to continue making crap motors.

A customer said that to me once, i kissed his ass and now he is winning races and endorsing(sp) us

Actually, Pineapple is very PRO evans... They sell the stuff on their web-site.. so I wouldn't worry about that being a liability against the warranty.

This is really sad to see, I'm only a few miles from Pineapple racing... and they are usually good guys, its sad to see they would recommend something as stupid as block sealer to FIX the problem.
