Pics of the painted interior with gauges installed

Well, minus the ashtray that I forgot at work, here is the pics of the painted plastic. I had a cracked stereo surround, no surprise there, so I fixed it and smoothed all the plastic out including the vents, ashtray, shifter surround, made a custom piece to fit under and around the radio, primed and painted it all in the same black I painted the outside of the car with. Now all I need is to get my custom shifter back and Ill be compleate in there for now.

My god I cant wait to clean the damm interior, amazing how things look so bad after letting the car sit all winter!

I used fiberglass. I have 1/4" wood behind it that I cut and glassed to the face so I could bolt it to the radio chassis. So now the gauges and radio can be removed as a unit if need be, if I remove the water temperature sender to allow it enough room to come out that is, damm mechanical gauge's sender isnt quite the length I would have liked, unless I drill a 7/8 hole somewhere in the firewall, right now I ran it thru the grommet on the passenger side like you had advised.

What length sender cord did you get? They make both 6 ft. and 12 ft. I used ABS plastic for my panel. It used to fit perfectly, but when I switched radios it didn't quite fit, and since I was too lazy to go buy more plastic I just cut it with scissors to fit. :notify: I think I should throw mine away so I'll make a new one.

I wasnt offered any choice of sender length, nor did it show it in the Summit catalog, its a 6' So by the time I ran it all the way over to the passenger side grommet, I didnt have enough to run it along the firewall and under the manifold to the thermostat housing, so now it goes across from the grommet to the thermostat housing. Im undecided to drill a hole more towards the center, they do supply you with a rubber grommet for when you do drill the hole, or to just leave the damm thing, not like people will be looking under my hood, damm car is all stock anyhow, lol. Where did you screw the piece of plastic to anyhow?

I just got the Saab din panel for gauges today. It looks nice and was only $10. Beats having to take the time to make one. And it holds three gauges. Now to get some gauges....

On my radio surround there are some holes in the back. So I crewed my panel into them.

< If its a single DIN, what are you going to do with the rest of the space from the factory radio?

My radio I actually have to take out my EQ to put this in. I might just mount the eq in my glove.
