Hey guys, I am totally new to this forum, but I do know my Rx-7's just not as well as some of you guys <_< lol. Anyways ... what I really need from you guys is your opinions on which Rx-7 to buy. Now Let me make things a little easier, I'm pretty much only interested in the 2nd gen. they just rock, but I would like for you guys to tell me some of your opinions on the different years. And also what the difference is between the different trim levels. Oh and BTW if I come across an '88 10th aniv. edition nothing you guys can say will change my mind from buying that sexy beast :bigok: lol. If you guys could like post a link or something to a complete breakdown of the 2nd gen that would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Shaun

Oh yeah, just thought I would mention that I live in Canada, if that makes a difference. Thanks again!

89+ TII with manual transmission (duh) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

1988RedT2 07-17-2002 04:46 PM

I'll second DaddyMac's suggestion. But since the '89 to '91's are so hard to find, I wouldn't rule out an '87 or an '88.

winger 07-18-2002 12:10 PM

you guys just dont know how hard it is to find a TII in Montreal, Canada....in 2 years, i've seen 3-4 for sale...

vosko 07-18-2002 12:50 PM

S5 89-91 are great. i love mine when i'm not breaking it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

well

broken rx7 = BAD

i need to put a 20B NA PP in my TII :flush:

dysthymia 07-20-2002 01:45 AM

I'd say any series V (89-91) car, NA or turbo. The entire car is more refined than the series IV. The only determining factor is how fast you'd like the car to go. The NA's are quickish, but it costs too much to make them get fast. With a Turbo II as your canvas, you've got a more powerful car to start with, and the sky is the limit as far as turbo-related mods go.

What's sad is when people paint their TII rims white to look like AE rims. They ALWAYS do a bad job.

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 08:27 AM

wouldnt they be fine if they were powder coated???

Yeah, that would work well. Paint is ok as well, but many people use crappy paint, possibly Krylon? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 09:25 AM

i bet my vert wheels would look pretty good if they were white how much would it cost to get them painted or do it myself?

I remember a wheel shop telling me something like $30-40 each wheel.

Fake S5 T2's are good too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/excl.png

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 09:51 AM

That's kind of what I'll have soon. I threw the TII transmission and rear in the 91 coupe. Latewr on I'll turbocharge the thing. The car feels SO much better with the turbo transmission and rear.

OKIERX-7 07-22-2002 09:54 AM

That ex S5 NA's gone turbo can be just as good as real S5 T2's.. Check my sig.

Rotarydragon 07-22-2002 10:03 AM

If you have your rims powdercoated make sure the person doing it is not an idiot

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 10:09 AM

who would be able to powder coat those things??

1988RedT2 07-22-2002 01:36 PM

If you were in Virginia, I'd recommend Precision Powder Coating. They did the rally wheels on my wife's '78 L-82 Corvette for $50. a wheel. They came out very nice.

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 01:41 PM

as you can tell i am not in va, but who usually does this kind of work? I dont think it will be listed in the yellow pages under powder coating.

1988RedT2 07-22-2002 01:50 PM

Actually, the yellow pages here do have a few listings under "Powder Processing & Coating." :P

I think I found out about these people at a rods and customs show. They usually have a lot of reps from shops in the area. You might see if there's one coming to your area.

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 01:59 PM

oh ok cool thanks. what do you guys think about powder coating my bbs wheels??

I want to do it to my vert rims, I wanted to go black. But now I got better things to spend $ on. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

ive got access to a shop with a powdercoating setup and im sort of in your area. could probably work something out if you actually wanted to get your wheels done

Shane.Trammell 07-22-2002 08:55 PM

you are sort of in my area

The wacky thing is, regular S4 TII rims have a different amount of spokes than the 10AE.
