You have to be careful with the reburnt ecu's as they have set of other mods required to allow them to extract the power in a safe manner. I worked in a Japanese tuner shop that did the typical JDM ecu burning, and they didnt do it as an across the board swap to a car they had not seen run. The only mods we did to ecu's on cars that werent at the shop, were boost cut, speed cut and rev cut.

When we did ecu's for a given car as part of a performance package, ever ecu was tuned for that specific car as every car is pretty different, depending on engine compression, amount of carbon built up in engine, even air filter and exhaust choice will affect engine tune.

Typically the ecu is part of whats called the "boost up" package. A pro shop, or a shop that knows what they are doing, compression tests the car to see what shape the motor is in before even doing anything else. If the motor is good, they will install their brand of exhaust, along with their choice of fuel pump, air filter, spark plugs and then reburn the ecu to that cars ability to make max power without knocking. Some other packages include hybrid turbo upgrades, injectors , even a rebuild with porting..

Now when you run one on a different car, you are rolling the dice to match the modifications the ecu is programmed to handle. Most Japanese ecu sellers will give a general list of what mods were on the car when the ecu was done, but still if your engine is stronger than theirs, knock is entirely probable.

There are some shops in Japan that sell what they call a reburnt performance ecu that generally adds fuel a couple of pounds of boost and more timing, those shops are not "pro" shops and it generally leads to blown motors.

thanks...its about time some one on here gives accual info instead of just telling you your wrong, and do what they would do.

i understand what your saying. but i was wondering if it was a "broad" re-tuned ECU meant for a stock Turbo II with some minor adjustments. cause everone knows when a car comes from factory. its not tuned for power. more along longevity and fuel consumption.

the Fcon has a map stored on a chip, and i know hks sells different ones, and it seems like the japanese tuners can burn their own too.

it can still be tuned with the gcc

shoot me a pm, and we'll talk price, if you're interested
