I've known 12As to go 300K+ mi without a rebuild. They are really reliable cars if you take care of em. I think the guys with the problems are the ones that buy em used from shitty POs.

Please don't think I was complaining about the reliability of these motors. After all the rotary powered 787B took 1st in the lemans 24hr endurance race at one time so they have to be somewhat reliable.Welcome to the forum. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

You have a point. It seems to be everything around the motor. And thank you!

You Cant Beat The Platform.

Rear Wheel Drive

Light Weight

Smooth Driving

Great On Curves

Great Power N/A And Turbo

Good for motor swaps (REW, 20B, V8)

and for an 86 it looks better than 90% of the cars out there of the same year. And after 19 years it is still kicking ass and running.

Next Year im getting an antique tag for the RX https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

I absolutely love my car. If I didn't I wouldn't still be the sole owner of this 1987 GXL (Bought it new, way back when).

But, they sure can sneak up on you with problems. Out of the blue with absolutely no warning, the car developed a vibration through the driver's and passenger's seat that I could have probably charged money for as a sex toy. Just out of no where it starts. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Well I took it in to the local Rotary Shop and they said that the U-joints on the driveshaft are bad and a bearing (I think that is what they said) in the transmission was bad. They fixed it within a couple of hours but man this was a blindside shot out of nowhere. It runs smooth as silk once again. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

Gotta luv 'em. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

sup twin brotha, i have a 1987 GXL also and its starting to vibrate like yours, when i take a corner it vibrates and i hear a werid noise from the cars underside that sounds like its vibrating so much down thurr that some sheetmetal or heat shelid is vibrating?

The steering is also eratic what should i get to solve all this problem

U -Joints

Tie Rod ends

Ball Joints etc?

Those heat shields were/are notorious for rusting and then falling apart and vibrating like hell. Mine has been replaced 3 times.

As far as the steering, I would just start doing a very methodical check of everything. I took out my P/S and put in a manual rack and I actually like it much better.
