i just bought an 87 t11 which i havent driven yet but at around 3500rpm it starts to run terrible. the mechanic described it as "at around 3500 it falls on its face".
the car is supposed to have 3500 km on a new motor and turbo it has 173500 total.i thought it was injectors so they got replaced and nothing changed. i have 2 stumped mazda mechanics and i am at a loss for words. the mechanics at this shop have another 87t11 with the same problem and they changed all the sensors and computers and still it doesnt run properly. has anyone heard of this? |
Define 'running terrible' ?

Is it the all-too-common grounding problem?
Read here: https://www.nopistons.com/forums/ind...howtopic=48183 |
grounding issue most likely. the famous 3800rpm hesitation. pretty common for a car that is close to 20 years old. or it's just mazda's. lol

3500rpms eh? if they just replaced the injectors make sure they double check the injector connections, if theyre loose they wont turn on and itll fall on its face.

oh and BTW having two stumped mazda mechanics is common, they dont know anything about rotary and just write things off as being blown.

The knowledge and common sense at Mazda dealers fade the further east you go. lol, seems like. we just have a lot of mazda time.... |
3800rpm hesitation is just a hickup
if its falling flat on its face at 3800rpm (3500 is pretty much the same thing), you have one or both secondary injectors screwing up. you can test the harness by using a voltmeter at each end and flexing the it to see if somethings loose or shitty in there. then unwrap a couple inchs from the end of the injector plugs and check out the wiring condition. Elliot told me something like that for testing a friends FD harness who blew his motor due to secondary injector problems -Ben Martin |
