Has anyone had a particularly good experience with these, or is it purely for style factor? I need a new battery and it wouldn't hurt to buy a pretty one.

thanks.

They aren't for looks they are for power

Redtop has over 900 CCA or something crazy, I have to recheck the label on my blue RX7.

I think they are good for a daily driver, just don't let them die. Optima batteries lose 20% of thier full charging capacity every time they are drained, after 5 or 6 times coming up with a dead battery, you will probably have to replace it.

The ones that stay charged are fine, but the battery I had in my 7 and the one's in my father's toys only seemed to last till the sixth recharge, after that they would never hold a charge, not even enough juice to make the under hood light come on. I can't say it's a fact of all Optima batteries, only my experince from the 20 or so I have played with in the last 5 years.

a buddy of mine had one that nearly caused a fire or somethin in his garage, i was thinking about getting one untill then, and optima wouldnt even cover the battery, he sent it in to them for a new one and they determined nothing was wrong with it and he screwed it up somehow and shafted him

I can first hand tell you they suck if they sit. I had to pull it out of the car and charge it up in my house for 3 hours and then it was fine... My buddy has the same problem. I had Summit send me my 8 month old reciept so I can return it to a Authorized dealer here... Personally I wouldn't get one again. I relocated mine in the back which is why I bought one ( safer). During the wamer months its fine though.. Any battery will drain if it sits too I just wouldn't expect this to do this...

89rag: I think your right. Everytime its dead it takes longer to get it charged

I think the optima works great. I haven't had issues with the battery no longer holding charge, i've had my go twice by accident (left the lights on), and they recharged quick on my battery charger.

The only grip I have with the optima is that it is damn heavy! Especially for a car that I only use at the track now... I should've just gotten a miata battery since I don't care about cold cranking amps anyhow.

Place it in the car to help offset your weight when racing it.
