Omg... No Thermostat?

ok well the other day i was opening up the the plastic cover thing right over where the thermostat goes in (3 screws and coolent hoes thing..)\well i opened it up because of a leak an i look inside and my thermostat is not in there!!!



what can this do to car???

well i bought one so ill be safe when i out it on

but does it even make that big of a difference not having it on beacause i really never noticed anything

it just takes longer to warm up without the thermostat. no big deal

well, what it basically does: it will make the car's coolant system run in circles. has the car overheated since you havnt had a Thermo in there?



It you overheated that baby, your done. get a thermo right away. ( $5-6 bucks)

no it hasnt really overheated though



but what about this

some time a go this guy was tuning up my car with lots of little things

and before i gave it to him it would rev up to 3 1/2 when id turn the car on....

but after it just stopped and didnt do it anymore

does that ahve anything to do with it

is it the thermostat that does that???

the ecu looks at the engine temp in an 89+, on the earlier ones there is a switch in the bottom of the radiator

you can run with no t-stat but you will have to run pure anti-freeze cause you dont want it to start boiling.

sounds like he may have disconnected the cold start thingy...don't know the technical term for it lol. It warms your cats up and revs high when you start it up. If he disconnected it, it would stop it from doing this
