Hi sorry bout the title but I wanted a quick answer
My car (87 NA) is doing the wierest thing with the clutch when I first press the pedal it is fine but every other press after that it gets weaker and weaker and eventually it just stays on the floor and the clutch is kind engaged (first gear rolls forward alittle with the clutch in.) After I turn the car off for awhile it it ok for 1 shift then it gets worse and worse. I checked the clutch fluid and it was low so i toped it off but it is alittle over full. Thnx |
Yor internal seals are worn out on your clutch master cyl, or your clutch slave cylinder, look for fluid residue around either one, that will be your culprit.

I concur!!
Replace both of them at the same time. Or replace one now and the other is a few weeks. I prefer to do them both at once and be done with it. |
i also concur! clutch hydros!

How much is that gonna cost me?

sounds correct to me. or u can just keep pumping it right now and let the pressure build up if u dont see any fuild around the master and slave. might be worth a shot. maybe u were just low on fluid

same thing with me, i got Tokico slave and master cylinder. works fine now.

It is actually very cheap to rebuild both of them at the same time. You can get the seal kits from about any parts store. Use a 2 fingered hone to clean out the cylinder before you put it back together. Total for seal kits about 25-30 dollars.

I completely agree with everyone else... rebuild them if you got the time and want to do it yourself, or get new/reman units... tokico is OEM quality and just fine, unless you can get a deal from The Man. I got mine from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, he's given me some great deals and ships next day usually. But I'm the kind of person who pays more for OEM when I feel like the quality is there... and stuff like brakes and clutch I put in that category. But many people have excellent results with stuff from Victoria British or even AutoZone / Pep Boys so go with where you are comfortable and your wallet allows. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
