i could believe that but, would it really make the car idle that rough?

Shane.Trammell 07-28-2005 01:34 PM

yeah, theres not much vacuum so its not getting the air it needs. its like having a bad vacuum leak

any thoughts on how i would go about finding it?

Shane.Trammell 07-28-2005 01:42 PM

finding what? you should do the ghetto compression test to see if the compression is ok.

what you do is take out a spark plug and listen for 3 even and strong wooshes when you turn the engine over. if 2 are weak and one is strong you have a bad or stuck (probably not stuck if you are hearing a ticking) seal. if you dont hear any strong wooshes all 3 seals are bad. then go to the other rotor. make sure you cut the fuel while doing this so it wont actually start. you can do that by pulling the egi fuse in the main fuse block

what happens if they're all good?

Shane.Trammell 07-28-2005 01:48 PM

then your problem is probably fuel related. does it smell like gas under your hood?
