yeah, theres not much vacuum so its not getting the air it needs. its like having a bad vacuum leak
any thoughts on how i would go about finding it? |
finding what? you should do the ghetto compression test to see if the compression is ok.
what you do is take out a spark plug and listen for 3 even and strong wooshes when you turn the engine over. if 2 are weak and one is strong you have a bad or stuck (probably not stuck if you are hearing a ticking) seal. if you dont hear any strong wooshes all 3 seals are bad. then go to the other rotor. make sure you cut the fuel while doing this so it wont actually start. you can do that by pulling the egi fuse in the main fuse block |

then your problem is probably fuel related. does it smell like gas under your hood?
i think it runs rich but it does smell like fuel under the hood and outta the exhaust |
check the pulsation damper. check the fuel system, maybe theres a leak and its not getting fuel |
wouldn't there be gas under the car? also the turbo shouldn't effect the idle right? |
would depend on the leak if there would be gas or not.. did you do the compression test yet? |
i took out a plug and didn't seem weak at all.....strong on all three....thank god...cant afford apex seals....hehe ne other ideas? thanks by the way...went to aol car chat and got flamed for having an fc3s so i really appriciate your help |
did you check both rotors? youd have to take a spark plug out of each housing to check both, but not at the same time
|

go here and get the fuel and emissions section of the FSM: http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/1988_factor...ice_manual.htm
go through there and check the trouble shooting sections for your symptoms. it will also say how to check the PD. i guess start at the fuel pump and go forward. |

If your sure the compression is good, do like Shane said. But pay close attention to the primary injectors and their wireing.

This could be a whole list of problems. Where are you located, maybe you live near someone who could give you a hand...
checked fuel pump, its fine checked coil packs with an ohmeter all 3 were less than an ohm so it ain't them. also, checked the alterntor and it's fine....... I AM OFFICIALLY : {{{{{{{{{{{{clueless}}}}}}}}}}}} |
how did you check the alternator?
the way it sounds it could be the BAC. the bac is supposed to allow extra air in when there is a load on the engine. is there a bac on FDs? |
Add a new battery ground from the negative terminal to the chassis, and inspect or add a strap that goes from the engine block to the chassis.
I don't know how many power issues or rough idle issues I've seen caused by decaying factory grounds as the car ages.. I thought I had a dead motor on one RX7 until I added a new ground... |
One note.....injectors often will TICK if they are bad... also screw up your idle.. may wanna have them checked?!
