when at full operating temp... and idleing around 750-800 my oil pressure sits just below (maybe 1mm) below 60 when driving... and holding anywhere between 2500-3000 My oil pressure is just below (2-3 MM)

110. Is it normal for a (rebuilt) motor to have such high pressure? Do you guys recommend purchasing an aftermarket pressure guage, just so i have more sense of whats going on in the engine bay?

thanks for the input

On a side note, my old tired motor with 208 K during idle would have just above (1-2 mm) 0 oil pressure... and while driving would have right around 30lbs or so

mine has (well had) 30lbs at idle and 60lbs after the 2k range. I got a completly stock engine though. I need to look at my car as my oil pressure has dropped it doesnt hit 60lbs anymore not even at 5k +.

Damn that sounds high. You may want to double check with a different guage. My 88 (77K and runs strong) reads around 25 at 800 rpm and 60-75 from 3k up with 10W40 (I have noticed a diff in readings with oil weight too). This is on an Autometer Phantom electrical guage with the sender mounted below the oil filter.

My other one with 169K & stock guage reads 15-20 at 800 idle and barely hits 60 from 3k up....its getting tired.

The oil pressure senders are known to go out
