Is This Oil In My Rad

I posted a pic, that has white slimy stuff floating around in my rad, and u can see some of it on the right edge inside the tube.does anyone here now if this is oil, my car has been overheating could this be the reason, is it possible my engine is blown i seem to have lost some power but does not smoke and idles fine.I only had the car 2 weeks what a shame is my t2 dead.

Does ur exhaust smell like coolant, and have you been using it? has ur buzzer been going off? That does look like oil with coolant mixed in it.

drain your coolant into a milk jug and let it sit.. it will seperate eventually... my school mixes oil and coolant sometimes on accident and they wont take coolant with oil mixed in without charging and arm and a leg so we let it settle (takes awhile) and pull out the oil hehe

Thats what i thought it was ,anyway thanks for confirming it drunkin. i will be storing the car untill i can afford to get it rebuilt.I will have to also look for shop that knows how to work on them,and that has a good rep.yes i have been driving it,the buzzer came on every now and then,but when i checked it was not that low so i just would add a little.My problem was i did not know that halfway was hot for this car and one day i saw it at 3/4 ,and was aslo overheated once where the fluid boiled out of the reserve.the car problably was already damaged when i got it ,i just finished it off.Thanks for your help

The picture is hard to tell



For all you know it could be debris from the coolant passages flaking, etc...





When was it flushed last?



Low pH in the coolant (acidity) corrodes iron, steel, and aluminum, putting corrosive particles into the mix, Higher pH can cause mineral fall out and plating...





That's your main concern with old coolant...



Scale in your cooling system can form from using tap water mixed with anti-freeze, because tap water usually has calcium and magnesium... They can solidify and plate onto hot metal surfaces.. and FLAKE..



I really suggest a coolant flush and fill, and perhaps look into an Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA)...

Oh wow I totally missed that glob of oil thats floating on top there at second glance.................





Still flush and fill and see what happens...

My car was burning a little bit of coolant when I first got it, so I got one of those bottles of brown **** that supposedly will settle and seal any leaks in the coolant system, and that fixed it. Its worked great since then

That's not necessarily the motor itself though, there could have been a small leak on, say, a coolant to TB line with a not-so-tight seal on the nipple, that was dripping and sizzling off on the block or exhaust... Might seem like a coolant consumation problem but actually just a leak.. That stop leak stuff will work..





But in my experience it doesn't always necessarily work on an internal coolant leak



Worth a shot I suppose but if it doesn't work and you overheat the motor, then it's not worth very much as a core either for exchange or rebuilding...
