Theres only so many types of bolts. I think my Haynes manual even has all the types litsted in front. I plan on just going to the hardware store and picking up new SS bolts of all IM bolts when I finaly get it all cleaned up. Will be a bit pricy but the bolts look like ass and are kinda rusty.

ss bolts cant be used anywhere, they arent that strong, grade 5 is

stronger then SS bolts, grade 8 even stronger.



I think what you mean is you want someone to supply

you with new bolts and tell you which ones go where.

Go to a GOOD auto parts store and get boxes of new metric

bolts. If you know a shop owner as them to hook you up

with the guy who supplies thier hardware, they normally have

a service that comes in and stocks all thier hardware weekly.



in the end, it would just be easier to clean what you have, a tumbler

or even a wire wheel on a bench grinder will work wonders.

You may be missing the point. You could be dealing directly with the owner of that dealership. The person’s status at the dealership doesn’t matter. The question is where is whomever going to get the information you’re looking for? For example; on an 89, the nut that holds the exhaust manifold to the block is part number 2158-40-355 (same part for either a TII or an NA). What size, thread pitch, and grade is that nut? The fiche is what's used to determine the replacement parts. The fiche doesn’t supply the information you are requesting. What source will the “individual” use to supply you with the information you are requesting?

Haynes does not list the sizes of the fasteners either. LISTEN!

I didnt say i was RUNNING out to get SS bolts..i just figured i would go buy a surplus of what i needed from a hardware store or car shop. but that was only if i could find the info i needed...

you would think that a company like atkins or pineapple, which probably needs tons of replacement bolts would have compiled a list of everything and then perhaps even a kit to sell along w/their rebuild kits. I'm suprised they havent, cuz it would def be worth some extra money to me, not to need to worry about being as careful.

Ok let me ask you this, are you looking for every bolt in the engine, or just the exterior bolts to make it pretty? I planned on doing a kit like this similar to the small block chevy kits, but I have not had anytime to gather up all of the bolts to do it yet

I know I will be replacing many of the maniold bolts. Because of looks and condition of some of the bolts.

Basically either or....If there was a kit for "everything in the engine", it would be a plus, but if its only the exterior bolts, then that is just fine for me. I would get that, and then just replace the others as I went.



Definitely let me know if you want to make a kit, I would be in line...
