Wassup? Its been a while since I've posted...(I like to try and figure things out myself). I'm stumped, and I need help from the rotary gurus we've all come to know and respect, bla bla bla. Enough with the sucking up...

She holds an idle on a good day, and its kind of weak even then. I get no power, zero, when I put it in gear and try to go. Its not a vacuum leak, it runs decently at higher rpms, and it backfires when I shift (if I make it that far).

The lowdown on how it happened: Downshifting into 3rd @ 60 on the highway and boom. She had some idle problems before (surging and high idle) . There was an audible pop, but I dont remember it all that well, this happened like 3-4 weeks ago.

Anybody got any ideas? Please dont tell me I chipped a seal or something. I'd have to hunt you down and kill you. Or at least maim you.

Oh, and anyone got a general idea how much a good rebuild w/ mid-range street port and good quality internals would cost?

Thanks guys

-Dave

*Going to check compression and try to check ignition timing tomorrow, just got the equipment*

Ha..since you don't know where I live I'm gonna tell you...it sounds like a busted seal or something. Go check that compression and let us know! Seriously...thats what my SE-X feels like now though...it hardly idles and has NO power and backfires like a biATCH....

Sounds like u busted a whole rotor chamber. You are probably running on one rotor now. Sounds like the time I first blew my first n/a engine. I would do a compression test to be 100% sure.

I think I'm gonna cry. This isnt right, I spent forever getting that thing in!

argh.

BTW, i didnt get around to the compression test today, but I did get the interior and carpet for the hatch area out. I'm tearing out the interior of my '86 and using whatever doesnt break in my '87. Custom interior, the cheap way...wahoo.

I will get that comp test done ASAP though, and let y'all know how everything goes. I seriously hope thats not what happened, b/c that pushes my schedule for the rebuild up a whole bunch, and I'm about as broke as a 17 yr old kid can get. And I refuse to let my parents pay for it. Theres just no dignity in that. Ack.

Anybody know how to earn 1500-2500$ in a few days? Couple weeks maybe? Without resorting to pimping or dealing? *sigh*

You never said anything about robbing a bank or a store.
