ok, so, at first my boost gauge wasnt working but i thought, well, maybe the whole dash doesnt work except for the tach. drive the car- speedo works and so does temp. the oil pressure doesnt move, at all, i asume its broken. but anyways- back to topic. i read up on here about somebody's boost gauge not working and how the boost sensor was unhooked. i checked mine- it was unhooked. YES! im gonna get to see some boost! so start the car, give it a couple revs, the gauge just goes to the 0, the rest of the time its at the bottum of the vacuum. so, i have no boost! i've tried taking off the IC pipes but that doesnt work cause the AFM closes and shuts off the car... i guess i could stand it open some how and try it but i dunno. no boost!!! what should i check or go through? also- i have a major exhaust leak. could this be it? im not thinkin that really a big possibility cause it spools to neutral. what should i do?!

You gotta drive the car to see boost. You cant just rev.

A TII with no boost is gonna be a dog. Is the car driveable? Does it have any power?

You can pull off the TID and see if the compressor wheel spins freely. If it does, and everything is hooked up, you should be okay. If your "major exhaust leak" is at the turbo manifold, it won't help any.

Boost will build a little revving it, but not enough to show 7 psi on the guage, you need to drive the car, and have a load on it, if the exhaust leak is before the turbo, you need to fix it, if it is after the turbo it really has no effect as long as it is after the downpipe. If you drive it and the boost is not coming up as expected, you need to check all of your couplers on the intake side, to include the intercooler piping, and all the hoses involved, any air leak in the system after the compressor for the turbo will cause a decrease in boost potential.

His leak is at the exhaust manifold, so fix that already and dont sell it.

I got 7 psi out of my just sitting there. But I dont know about how the stock gauge reads at idle like that, mine never worked. I would assume that the gauge would read because its off of a map sensor, not the AFM. So I dunno.

Dude I had to replace mine I bought the car with it blown. Good luck finding it at a local parts store i.e. auto zone, pep boys. I had to order mine from a ****** ford dealership and it cost me like 75-80 bux. Good luck with that though.

If you're talking about the gasket between the turbo and the turbo manifold, get it from Mazdatrix. Sure, it's expensive for a gasket, but I know it wasn't no 80 bucks. Sheet!

You might want to check the turbo housing and the manifold for cracks. You just might need more than a gasket, if you know what I mean....
