I am new to rotary engines. I do have a basic understanding. I'm 16 years old and love cars. I am wondering what kind of model and year of the RX-7 I could afford with around 6,000 dollars. Its it true what people say of an RX-7's speed? Can a 1987 turbo RX-7 beat a mustang? Ive heard stories from both sides. Please LET ME KNOW THE TRUTH

thanks

Off the mark a rota would beat most things off the line, except maybe 4wd cars. Unless you have the top end power like a turbo or a huge port job, a big V8 will eventualy chase you down. Then again drag strips are only so long!

that dead on, i have a couple of friends with big v-8s. I race them a lot in the 1/4 mile. The mustang 5.0 w/ intake starts to catch up around 90mph. And my friends 86 camaro w/ 305 and $6,000 in internal mods noses up with me @80 mph.

Yeah i can crush them to 60 but those big torque #'s of their catch up with me.
