First things first. I guess in order to fully explain my situation, I have to go back in time a little ways to when I had just turned 16. Ever since I had recieved my permit at 15, my interest in cars had been growing and growing. I was learning as much as I could...I absorbed any car related information like a sponge.

In 1988, my father purchased his n/a rx7 from the dealership, and hardly ever drove it (just about 5 miles each day, to and from work, with some extra on the weekends) up until he decided he wanted to buy his dream car, a 1970 jaguar xke. So he gets the xke right when I turn 16, and I buy his fc from him.

Now being the uneducated kid I was, I have no idea where to start with this car. All I know is that I want to do some sort of aftermarket mods to it. So I go to the local 'car shop' called Project D to get some advice on what i can do to make my rx7 go faster and look better. I figured they would know best. I was pretty wrong.

Over the course of the next few months, I get some aftermarket mods, both good and bad, for the car. New wheels and tires, followed by a k&n intake. Both good purchases. An ACT Street/Strip Clutch...another good purchase. A top of the line soundsystem...also a good, although expensive, purchase. But then, a 5zigen Fireball cat-back exhuast system, followed up by a used downpipe I buy off one of the guys at Project D? Not a good purchase. It turns out that this exhaust system is actually made for a TII rx7, not the n/a, so it is CRAZY loud, especially after the downpipe is put in.

So now I've screwed up my exhuast system, one of the most important parts of a rotary engine...damn it. I dont really wise up and learn the truth about my mods for a couple years, and by that time, I am going to college, and have no money to do anything about my mistakes.

I cant put the old system back on because my mother threw out parts of it while i was away, thinking I wouldnt need them anymore. And now, the system is really deteriorating. I think I have begun to notice a slight loss of power, and my car keeps getting louder and louder. When it comes down to it, I want to do everything on this car the right way. I have money now, but I dont want to spend a fortune. At the same time, this car just turned the 50k original mile mark, so I want to keep it in the best shape possible. I want to get a new full exhaust system for the fc, and I want to know from your personal experience, what is the best all around system out there, in terms of performance, reliability, sound, and overall compatibility with my car? Also feel free to let me know about anything I may not have thought of.

I'm sorry this was such a long post, and much thanks in advance to anyone that responds. I wanted to fill you in on my exact situation so I can get the best recomendations. I am currently thinking about the racing beat full exhaust system, and that seems to be the general consensus among my knowledgable friends...but what do you all think?

You have a nice exhaust.

All you need is a good pre-silencer in the old cat location.

RB is best, but any good straight through, stainless (not FG) packed silencer will work.

The longer the better.

Alright guys, thanks for the input. I called up racing beat today, and it seems like they can definitely set me up with a good system. Again, thanks for all the replies, and i'll most likely make a post with pics of my new system
