If you are just looking for a stock replacement you cant go wronge with a mazda reman. You can also go with any of the numerous rotary builders, but after hearing rumors about all of them it is hard to choose. Unless you have judge Ito build you a motor but the guy is impossible to get in contact with let alone have him build you an engine.

There are some for sale on thepartstrader.com for like $400 I think. But if you want a straight engine you're gonna be dropping $1500, at least. In such a situation, you get what you pay for. A $1000 J-spec is a crap shot where as dropping $3,000 on new housings and the whole deal, you'll probably get some more fun out of the engine before it goes out next.

Pick two:

Fast

Reliable

Cheap

All engines are, and if it's dirt cheap, it ain't gonna last.

My local Mazda dealer quoted $1960 plus a $1000 core charge. That's not really a lot for a stock rebuild with a 24k mile warranty.

Who charges 2000 for rotor housings? They're making a killing!

I doubt it, but I honestly don't know. I'm guessing they'll re-use rotor housings if they are within spec. I'll find out for sure before I buy one, if I end up going that way.

What I was wondering was if they included new housings and what not on the rebuild. Comon, maing!
