I put my car back together again tonight. I took the UIM to check for vacuum leaks, bad connections ya know that stuff. Put the car back together and started it up.. got it up to operating temps and ended up hitting it with the timing light.. got the timing set back pretty damn close to the yellow mark and it seemed to be operating a bit happier.. but the turbo was smoking to no end.. and dripping oil on the floor too.. i kept the car running for a few minutes more while i did some stuff trying to get the idle to take over so i wouldn't have to have someone hold the gas.. The car shoots alot of flames.. i mean damn near any time you let your foot off the gas it's shooting flames..

but the main point of this post..

My turbo seems to be leaking from the underside of it seriously bad.. like cloud of smoke fill a garage full of it can't breathe kinda bad. I don't think it's leaking from the oil return line though. the way it looks is it's coming from where the compressor bolts to the exhaust housing... is this likely? i know i'm getting smoke in the exhaust but it's hard to say it's from the turbo since the motor only has about 10 minutes of idle time since it was dropped in.. I just emailed Bryan at BNR to ask him about my turbo. if this thing is fuxor'd i'm going to be a very unhappy person. 'specially if it's fuxor'd do my own fault.

side note.. all CEL's are fixed and the car seems happier

you know it and I emailed him.

I just don't think it's the oil return line.. i've pulled it twice already due to this but never has it smoked or dripped oil like it did tonight. I could'nt believe how much had dripped on the floor. it's up on jack stands already i just couldn't get directly under it since mm hot oil in the face.. no thanks

did you cap the oil filler neck and the vacuum on the middle housing? if you did you will get tons of oil sucked in ....

nope.. I didn't do any vacuum plugging 'cept for the lines that went to some of the emissions that I removed. otherwise everything is identical to how it was before I ganked the motor

I'm going to pull my oil return line AGAIN and look at things. see if I can figure out what it's being a PITA

bryan didn't have much to say.. just basically asking if the turbo's leaking externally or not.. who knows.. I'm still motivating myself on crawling around on my car today

air pump, acv, precat/main cat.

that shouldn't be a factor though since I removed those items 2 - 3 months ago.

just ran out and started the heater in the garage.. i plugged 3 lines off the rear vacuum spider .. this is the part that goes around the back side of the motor. I have that removed and plugged with the 4th line going to the secondary rail.

i'm going through all the possible variables. things that I changed since swapping the motor. I guess i'll know more once the garage heats up and I drag myself out and get below the car
