WOW! Impressive project. I don't know enough about setting up a race car to even ask good questions, so I won't attempt. But I can gawk and read and maybe learn some . . . if you will be good enough to continue to keep us updated!

I would assume that you have to be a pretty accomplished welder already before you can even get into something like this, wouldn't you? Some of the stock metals being pretty thin and easy to mess things up if you aren't a really good welder from the get go?

the stock tin on this particular car was junk on the floor. had 19 patches to put in befor i could even begin the car. i have been welding and doing fab work for 17 years now. i started in machine shops when i was 16 and now 32 i moved into working on cars 7 years ago and 3 years ago got into the racing world. i have been all over the country doing so ever since. i was even lucky enuff to be the dead man on the speedsource team when they won the 2007 daytona 24 . anyways ya i been around lol. im in the early stages of building up my own shop and will launch a website and advertizment in the near future. ill keep you posted. randy

Since you got the serious skills, hope the new shop will work out for you. Meanwhile, I'll keep watching your project.

its been some time since i last posted some new stuff. i was waiting on some new metal to show up. now that i have it i can finish. i finished the front bodywork mounts and installed the petty bar, now maybe you can tell why the intersections on the main hoop are where they are. next up are the door bars and the roof panel. car should be ready for paint and wrap by the end of the week.

body mounts, i removed about 15 pounds of sheet metal from the front of the car wich was weak and bulky. the round hollow pipe used for the mounts with the spring tabs only weighs just under 3 pounds and is extreamly strong not to mention looks cool lol.
