It seems that the detent ball fell out of the fork...what the ****?

As i went out of a parking spot, and went from reverse to 1st, the gearbox moved both selector shafts foward. ****

there is a chance that it is stuck 1/2 way in anouther gear like in reverse, but the shift linkage poped out of the notch and went back in to neutral so now when you go in to 1st and second it's fighting reverse or anouther gear and wil lock the transmission up. try going in to a gear and then see if you can slide the shifter over in to the gear beside it, if it slips in then that is your problem. The hard thing about this is there are balls and springs that lock out the other shift linkages when one is moved in to gear so you may not even be able to do this. Dammit.. lol this is really dificult to explain on the internet with words. Anyway can you only get in to 1st and 2nd? or will it go in to 3rd and 4th as well..? then I'll continue with if you can possibly fix it or not with out having to pull the transmission. Also when it's in neutral and you start the car does it try to move at all?

ok dragon..thanks.

The car will not move foward unless the clutch pedal is depressed. I can hear 1st and 2nd gear select (click click)...but the car appears to be in 3rd-5th. It wont move at all when you try to go foward. Just the stench of a slipping clutch

try this, go in to 1st gear, then pull the shifter over 1/2 way so it's kind of in 1st and 3rd at the same time and pull it back to neutral. this should pull both of the shift linkages back. now put it in 3rd and see if you can do the same thing with 3rd and 5th. It may take a few tries to get them to pull back and even after you get everything back in to there neutral areas you may still have poblems if the shift linkage is bent or the detent balls or springs are messed up... good luck and give us a update.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

It appears that the 5th and revese fork moved at the same time the 1st and 2nd engaged and locked it up...****

I cant spend the time and money to rebuild the one that was in the car. It needs new everything...exept the shafts
