went to see a 91 convertible yesterday. 93k miles, interior in pretty good shape, has been in some sort of collision, the car has been repainted and something about how the hood sits that it doesnt quite fit correctly, didnt see the engine or hear it run. The top looks like 2 pieces, and has a rip on the drivers side about 1 1/4", from where it leaks inside right behind the factory drain pouch or whatever is called. On the passenger side that pouch seemed to have a problem draining. And it was an auto. The guy that i talked to said they were asking around $4700.

What do you guys think...

That seems kind of high to me, but I like to buy cars with bad motors. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png The hood fitment problem may be as simple as just readjusting the hood on its hinges. The drainage problem is probably due to dirt and leaves in there. Those pouches drain into a tube that goes through the underside of the car.

I wouldnt buy an automatic, car is slow enough as it is, and sometimes the front bumper gets kind of wacky and it also makes the hood look abnormal. The top problem you describe is the same on all convertibles, and oh yeah- the car will leak

Yes, they all leak. I've had 2, and they both leaked.

Sometimes when people put the hood back on they don't align it properly, and it sits too high.

Yea that sounds pretty high to me all things considered. I personally would never consider an auto, but that aside the other things wrong with it are enough to make me walk away.

Hope that helps.

I knew a guy with an A/T convertible, and actually wasn't that bad for just driving around in, but I would still go for a 5 speed.

Making automatic 7s should be a crime.

good, stay away from autos. thats exactly my first reason not to get it. But, now, all of the sudden i want a freaking convertible.

And 4700 is too high. hmm. I would have never guessed that one, since kbb haas the listed for like 9000.

As far as buying non running cars, one can only pile so many in ones yard. Theres 5 at our house non running, 1 is not registered, plus the daily 5 plus 3 at a rented garage and 1 in the body shop.
