i smell fuel later in the afternoon when im driving home from school but not in the morning or miday usually around 5pm. Today, its 730am and i go to the car and the car doesnot want to idle right , i had to start the car 3 times and hold the gas pedal till it reached 2k rpm then let go and it idled at 750rpm but the two other times i did that and the car kept shutting off on me.

Ive posted this problem before about the idle, just going down to the point it shuts off. Now i smell fuel ocassionaly, i looked at the engine block and dont see any fuel from the injectors / fuel filter area. I smell it from the back. Is it a hose thats has a small hole?

I dont know maybe one of you guys have had this idleing problem and or fuel smell problme that probably are interrelated. SO please i need help.

Also when i start the car sometimes it doesnt want to start. I guess shes still mad at me for not driving her for l ike 7 months. Now that i got her fixed its like she has an unbeleivable amount of problems. Also it keeps saying i need antifreeze when in fact she has antifreeze, and she heats up to 1/2 of the gauge usally shes always well below that. And thats when im not beating on her.

i dunno i need help......

The gas smeel from the back could be a leaky tank. The tank on my GSL-SE sprung a leak after sitting for awhile and it took me forever to figure out where the smell was comin from. Could also be a line loose or broken.

As for running hot, I'd check the thermostat and flush the system. The idle problem could be related to emissions gear or vacuum? I dunno without more details.

Check your fuel lines from the engine bay to the tank. There's an access port under your hatch carpet. Open that and check the connections at the fuel pump. If the car was sitting for a while, it probably wouldn't hurt to drain the tank and start with some fresh fuel. Might be some condensation in there. There's a plug on the bottom of the tank that makes it very easy. Be careful when you're handling gas, and unless your tank is nearly empty, make sure you've got a big bucket!

You may already know this, if so, skip it.

If you smell gas, check the fuel pulsation damper. If it looks dry, check it again.

You have an S4 NA, right? Did you try adjusting the variable resister and the TPS? This won't work on an S5 NA, but on an S4

1) set the initial set coupler (test connector on an S5)

2) adjust the TPS

3) set the idle at 750 RPM

4) adjust the variable resistor so that the idle is at it’s highest point

5) adjust the idle back down to 750 RPM

6) turn the variable resistor counterclockwise until the idle drops down to 730 RPM, and then turn it clockwise until it comes back to 750 RPM

see if that helps. Now, what's it gonna take for somebody on the Knicks to put somebody on the Nets in the hospital?

DAMN!
