ho-kay, now that the weather is cold and i've been going to the drag strip, i'm been creeping up to 11 psi in 3rd and 4th, and i'm worried my engine is going to explode from detonation. i want a little insurance, so i figure a higher flowing pump will make me run a little rich, giving me some protection.
where is the cheapest place to get a high-flow fuel pump, like a walbro 255 or something? i've heard they run for like $90. k2rd? is this even the best pump? is there a cheaper/better alternative? |
I think sportscar motion may be able to get them cheap. I have seen them on ebay for 90ish, but heard rumors of them not being true 255lph. Walrbo would be a good upgrade.
|
I think the injectors would be the first thing to change before a pump wouldn't it?
|
My Walbro died on me. I had it for 4 months.
|
was that a real walbro from a real parts dealer, or was it an ebay pump?
|
There are plenty of people who have used and are still using walrbos without longevity issues. Most of the guys in Japan who run intake fuel pumps have been using dual walrbos for years.
|
i see some places have a walbro 255 LPH pump and others have a 255 LPH "High Pressure" pump that is $10 higher. what's the difference?
|
youll want the hgih pressure pump IIRC, and i wouldnt trust ebay most of the time, i got mine from a forum member for $100 even. and it seems to be of rather hgih quality.

i got my from sportscarinmotion 1 year ago.. it sits on my desk still..i think i paid 92... i don't think its the high pressure one... i don't remember seeing the highpressure one last year when i was looking to buy one.
|
Get the aermotive 1000a then. 455lph https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

i'm probably just going with the one from k2rd for $120. that seems to be the going rate, and i've bought stuff from them before and had good success.
anything cheaper than $120 is most likely a fake walbro, a walbro 190 LPH, or a 255 LPH, NOT a high pressure unit. you get what you pay for, and i want something that will last and do what i pay for. |
Part number GSS 341 written on the side of my ebay one
Underneath that 30103-1 all pressed onto the metal casing. Black plastic cap has 2473 pressed into the + - plug on the pump. Can anyone cross reference this with one they bought off of K2RD or the like? |
supposedly all the high pressure , 255 lph pumps start with the GSS 341
here are some other part numbers for the other lower pressure pumps: http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/walbro.htm |
