they figured that **** out with the FD!
I agree...

BUT...

By 1989 or '90, the RX-7 was pretty pricey next to its competition. In spite of the performance advantage, many more n/a's than turbos were sold. The FD was an awesome performer, but the resulting price jump (and reliability issues) is what killed FD sales in the states.
yeah thats true too. my 1991 na would have stickered for $22k, the fd's were $32 in 92 and almost $40 in 95. way too much for a mazda.

the only thing that depriciates faster than a mazda is a bmw. a 1992 750il stickered for $100,000 you can buy them for under 10k....

no ****.... I was reading last night in the new Sport Compact mag about the value and current prices of the last gen Supra. It turns out there were only I believe 4000 Supras sold in North America from 93-98 that had both the turbo set up and 6 speed manual.

They were saying a decent used 93-95 TT 6 speed should be around $15-20K, yet everytime I see them for sale its close to original sticker price! I know they are very rare and great cars though but damn.

I agree and with that said, you 10th AE guys should hold onto them... is the 10th AE the rarest RX7 sold in the states??

Also, with that article, they were getting more at the blue book comparison to what the car is actually worth to an enthusiast. For example, if only 4000 of that specific Supra were sold throughout its 6 year production, an enthusiast may pay up to double the blue book which makes me wonder how exactly they are determining blue book value.... I guess they are not taking into consideration the # produced and sold??

there are tons of rare* rx7's

the 78's, have no passenger mirror, the hood prop on the wrong side etc

theres the 80 limited, it had leather, and ugly paint and wheels

the 83 limited edition, bbs wheels, special seats, different color

84-85 gsl-se; best car they made until the miata

86-87 sport package; big brakes no sunroof

88 gtu: its a sport package with turbo mirrors and seats

88 10ae, it looks like someone took a t2 to maaco and had them mask off the glass. i dont care how rere it is its still an 88 t2

89-90 gtus: see 88 gtu

any fd: they are rarer than gsl-se's

* rare does not mean its worth anything
