I am going to make an exhaust for my NA GXL and was just wondering what muffler would sound the best as well as offer the best performance. I was hoping i could get something cheap of off e-bay. This is kinda a project low buck car.

Thanks

Josh

if you go cheap remember try to get a muffler with no packing

or with stainless packing.

You can get a Y-pipe from MazdaTrix for cheap, or get one made locally.

I was going to do a single outlet exhaust. I like it better and it is less weight. I dont feel that the airflow of the dual exit exhaust will really help with power.

then a custom pipe is in your future, personally I think FCs look

wierd with single exaust.

You can get a whole exaust, single pipe, with muffler for like $300 already made up for a FC.

the corksport exhaust is about 300, and its full stainless. That is the exhaust that i'll get eventually (eta 2018)

Im not looking for a full exhaust, just a recommendation on a good sounding muffler. Thanks for the reply though.

Apex, I know its all stainless and tempting at $289 but keep in mind its LOUD AS HELL!!! I mean obnoxious loud... and I was just running an RB downpipe and presilencer at that point (quieter than header to presilencer). If you don't mind that, go for it.

Well cheap and quality don't mix well. The corksport is NOT a FULL exhaust it is only a catback. Bang for the buck it is the best over all. I preffer my True Duals to any single on an FC. Cheap mufflers sound like *** compared to my exhaust. My friend has Magnaflow mufflers with headers and pre-silencer. Not a pretty sound to me. But you may like the sound of a dying Zebra I am not sure. With a single outlet the noise has to be handled by one muffler rather than two. That means 50% less muffling of sound= LOUD

Some people say the BOMEZ ebay specials are a good buy and they don't sound too bad at that but the sound clips I have heard are all from dual outlet exhausts.
