I'm trying to find an ecu to get the car running. I have an 88tii. Will a n332 (87) ecu work or do I need a n333?

If they both work, what are the differences between them (other than the year they were used)?

Any response is appreciated.

The N332 was made for the 87 T2 which run low impedance injectors. The N333 was made for the 88 T2 which run high impedance injectors.

They will both work, you just need to make sure that the ECU sees the correct resistance. The low impedance harnesses have a resistor box so the ECU sees a high impedance. The high impedance harnesses do not have this resistor box because the injectors already have high resistance. No matter what, both ECUs need to see high impedance. There are half years where it could be either way. What are the numbers on your injectors?

Taken from http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/

***IF using LI injectors on a HI harness, you must splice into the harness, at each injector lead (for a total of 4) 10 ohm/10watt resistors available at radio shack for a couple of bucks. Doesn't matter which wire of the 2 per injector you splice to, polarity isn't an issue here. This bumps the LI resistance up to acceptable load for the ECU to see.

***IF using HI injectors on a LI harness, you must unplug the resistor pack. Next, locate the supply wire in the center of 5 terminals. Bridge jumper wires from this terminal to each of the 4 outlying terminals, which basically completes the circuit without resistors, carrying the HI injectors' 12-13 ohm load directly to the ECU just as a HI harness would.

yeah, Req = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 ... 1/Rn

I have a harness and ecu from and 88 tii ae on the way. So that should be a N333 right? I'm getting ready to order a drivetrain from Osaka. I know how to tell if the engine is s4/s5 (hopefully they will listen when I let them know I NEED an s4). How can I tell if the injecors are low or high imp? Sorry if this is in a faq.

if its really an 88 then yes it should be a n333, not liek theres really any diff between 87-88 tho performance wise

heres a good way to tell if its an s4 or s5, look at the oil metering pump. the s5 has an electroinc oil metering pump that has a black cylander box thing with wires coming out.

the s4 is mechanical with a linkage that goes to the throttle body.

all s5 have high impedance injectors, and i would advice against getting a s5 jdm motor for simplicity....

as for s4 the main way to tell is looking at the colour of hte injectors, the s4 low impedance injectors are a TAN colour.. the high imp s4 injectors are a redish colour.( not 100% on what colour of red but you can definitly tell between tan and redish...)

if your getting a real 88 harness then u will want to get an engine with the red higth impedance injectors!!

I'm running Stock S5 Injectors, and I have a n333, used a n332 before I got my Rtek, and I have the resistor plugged in, wouldn't start with out it.
