I have a 1986 Non turbo Rx-7 recently installed a new engine... well. used with 80,000 miles.. I must admit the engine runs great... I also have a standard cone intake, and Borla cat backs, with no cat converters. My question is. With headers, will the car be faster, if the answer is yes... where in the power band will i feel more power?? down low? up high? where in the rev range. Also, should i have gotten the engine Ported while i was having it installed?

I appreciate any help you guys can give

1986 Gxl. 208,000 on Chassis... 80,000 on engine

Intake, Borla Catbacks, Bonez Race pipe.

Looking to do : Turbo 2 Secondary injectors, Headers/Midpipe.

Thanks. Markus

Umm, wrong area to post this...I think you need to be over in the Second gen forum buddy But since Im here, I gained alot of TOP end from my RB header on my SP N/A. Down low really didnt do anything, but 5500 and up, I can feel the difference from my stock manifold. Alot of people conplain about the noise...I don't think its bad? I'm running a RB header, NO silencer or cat, to N1 dual exhaust. Sounds wicked. Hope this helps ya.

you will prolly notice an improvement on the top. if the fc had room longer headers would give you more down low

Longer as it, straight off the block right? Yeah, I've heard something like that...I think it was a guy with a GSL-SE that built his own custom headers that built them, and dynoed them multiple times to find the right length and stuff....I just bought em

yeah for the 1st gens racing beat sells 2 setups, one like the fc header and one where the headers collect over the rear axle

I gained a bit more power on the top end when I installed the header. It is a little louder with my setup but I like the sound. I think that they are a great mod for the NA.
