alright, i bought an 87 Base yesterday after heavy planning and consideration (only 200 dollars and runs ).... my goal for this project is to have a 300+ HP daily driven vehicle. That means no crazy porting (idle) and no overheating problems. I also wanna keep my stock turbo (for sleeper purposes) With my own garage it wont be a problem as i have everything i'll need to do the TII swap. Her body is straight and she looks really good, needs a few interior trim pieces and the like. But i'm not gonna register her or get plates till June 2004(dmv troubles, dont ask ) I gotta get out a Mitsu 3000GT tranny rebuild we got in the shop so i can use the space to move in my Rex permanently for a long time. I'll have the car out later on this week and i might move in the Rex.

Here's my lil list of mods:

TII engine swap

Upgraded secondaries

Walbro Fuel Pump

HKS F Con

HKS Turbo Timer

Koyo Aluminum Radiator and Electric Fan

MSD 6AL with NGK PLugs and MSD Wires

Manual Boost Controller

Complement of Gauges Needed

Complete Turbo Back Exhaust system from FC3S.org store (700+ bux but looks well worth it)

Spearco Intercooler and i'll get the piping done at a muffler shop down here that has a mandrel bender

Apexi Blow Off Valve

Apexi Intake

Fabricate my own Cold air box

Try to powder coat everything i can

Eliminating all emissions things i can since we dont have an emissions test here for a few years

Wheels are still a toss up (Hoping i can go for something 10in wide and not look like a dork and i dont wanna add fender flares or anything)

I already have all my audio/video components which i'm adding for fun

One 7 in LCD and i'm adding in my Xbox(hacked myself with over 100 games on the HD now!)

Hopefully i can break 300 HP with this setup at around 14psi which is my goal, even though i'll be running around 8 psi 95 percent of the time(daily driveability, love boost controllers) and if i dont break 300HP with this i'll have the fuel necessary to upgrade a turbo and wastegate and diff manifold later on. I wanted to start this thread to be able to keep people posted on my progress and be able to request help when i'm stuck. So far it looks like i'm completely dissassembling the cars interior in order to clean everything and installing dynomat to keep the sound out and add a nice luxury car feel inside being shielded from all the noise outside. I have a few places cornered because i have a broken radio surround and i wanna upgrade to white face gauges. I wanna have the interior completely removed dash and all to start running all wiring i'll need. i also have a lot of custom interior install stuff to do that would be easier when she's out *msd in the glove box* *xbox setup in the storage compartment* then in about a month or so i'll drop the engine and completely strip the engine bay to clean it up and get ready for the swap, then i'll do the swap and have all the connections done and tune her on a dyno, then i'll get her repainted at maaco (workin on a budget here) since i have a very long deadline for this project i'm looking into maybe a very small shot of NOS but i'm scared of boost creep so i'm staying away. Thats the outlook of her, when shes gonna be done she'll pull 300+ wit a dyno sheet to prove it and have a mediocre audio system and my xbox in it. She'll be black with black wheels and tinted windows*not too dark* i might add a red graphics kit wit red underbody neon but i think that might be ricey... the only sticker i'll prolly run is a nopistons.com sticker because i hope to learn alot and get help from you guys, i'll end up sticking it on the front bumper somewhere

So to start off with updates, bought the car yesterday and i am clearing up some space to get her a permanent home in the shop... she needs some interior pieces that are broke and the carpet is ripped. i'll look into getting a black one off of ebay. Let me know what u think so far about the setup and if you think i have a chance of breaking 300HP with this setup on the stock turbo at 14 PSI. I plan to keep this thread fairly active with progress and tech talk and help from you guys, by the way, i live in the area around Charlotte, NC and i'm wodering if anybody lives close that could recommend a good place to get my secondaries bored out. ThanX!!!!!!

Skip ignition upgrade, wont' need it.

Going to be hard to be reliable 300hp with stock turbo, turbo won't last long at high psi...

Backpressure is pretty high beyond 9psi, increase in exhaust reversion, diluting intake charge, increased chance of detonation..

Better off getting a to4E/B...

You could always build a tubular style manifold for the hitachi to relieve the pressure and extract heat faster.Make sure to run the S5 turbo if you think you can get 300hp out of it.Plus get a 2 stage boost controller set it at 9 and 14 psi. Then you can have the extra power when you need it and not kill the turbo so easily at the high boost level.
