I finally rented a hoist today and pulled my engine. It went pretty smooth. I took the arms off the engine stand and bolted it straight to the plate which seems to work good. Everything is off the engine now, I just have to hunt down one of those huge nuts for my flywheel tomorrow. With my exhaust manifold off I got a good look at my rear rotor and found that one of the apex seals was chipped! Now I don't feel so bad for not doing the ATF :bigok: I can't waite to get those suckers all polished up and looking nice.

You lifted the motor out w/ all the manifolds, etc still on it? That's cool...so what kind of motor is this?
|
It is an 88 13B n/a. Actually I took off the upper intake and the vacuum cluster before I took it out, which made it easier.
Yea I am hoping the inside of the rear housing is alright, guess I'll be finding out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I think I will just go with the street port which will be cool. I still haven't found a 2 1/8 nut for the flywheel however, maybe tomorrow. |

Yeah I'm interested, that would be cool. Let me know how much you want and when you want to sell it, cause I don't have the cash right now. I could work some slightly damaged series V round tail lights into the payment if you're interested https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif Why aren't you going to put it back on your vert?

The socket your looking for(for the flywheel nut), can be had at 4-wheel drive shops.(and maybe a good parts store.) I've got one that I use for the front hubs of my Scout and if I remember right it wasn't all that expenstive.(I used it to take the nut off of my Turbo II.) Its not like buying Snap-on or S&K, its welded togather.
Since were so close, if your not in a hurry I can mail it over to you on monday and you can mail it back to me.(cross sound.) Dave Webster Port Orchard, Wa. wdwflash@aol.com |
Thanks WdWflash, I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately I bought one on Thursday at an industrial supply place so now I have one of my very own https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Luckily it only took me about a half hour of cranking to get it off, I was afraid it would take longer like a day or two. I thought it might be as stubborn as the pitman arm on my Jeep which ate up one puller and took about 4 days to get off. It almost took out my toe when it finally shot off. :notify:

Glade to see you found a socket. I'm lucky, I work around big engines(up to 5000hp), and can get ahold of big breaker bars. The one I used on my turbo II nut was kind of overkill and it came off real easy.
Are you going to come over for the Aug 11 "Cruz"? There should be a good rotary turnout and your just across the sound. I hope to have my Kelmark/TurboII totally finished by then.(interior).I spent all last week tracing down way I didn't have any turn signals and headlights(1978 wiring! I hate electrical work!) Also drilled out the hole for my new boost guage. I just ordered a '93 BOV(My j-spec didn't come with one and I didn't know I really needed one.) I sure would like to find a good tuner for my haltech E6k, I believe I am running real rich(the exhaust really smells bad!) Well, I'll try and clear up the richness my next off week. What year car are you working on? Is it going to be running by 8/11? |
I think it would be awesome to come over on 8/11 for that Saints car show thing. I am hoping to have my car running in June. It is just an 88 n/a that needed some work. I bought it for cheap as a project car, so now I am going through the engine. The guy I bought it from was cotemplating a V8 swap https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Here are some pics:

Other than the hood and fender, the car looks like it is in good shape.

Well I think someone either backed into the car with a truck or it was driven under. The guy I bought it from thought something might have hit him on the freeway, some flying debris or something. I think somebody probably just backed into him with a cube van or something.
