my mechanic had a clutchmasters race setup on his brothers RX3 9 second race car. it blewup !!! and shot out the car. i'm not too found of them. ACT all the way!!![/quote]

well maybe it was the power of the 9 second car! I don't know, I had a 4 puck ACT on a previous car that was excellent but chewed the hell out of the flywheel (that's what I get for unsprung hub race disk). The clutchmasters stage 1 for an FC is under $200 which is what I have. It does the job great if you have minor mods and/or just want something better than stock. Its just a HD pressure plate and an organic disc. I wouldn't drop the money on the more expensive clutch masters though if I wanted a heavier clutch, I'd definitely go with ACT again.

Seen how we are one the subject my new clutch is making a strange noise. It sounds like a slight grinding noise. It's like someone rubbing two pieces of sandpaper together and when you push on the clutch pedal you can hear the noise slowdown. Also if you put in gear it goes away. Is this normal? It's still in its breakin period(300 miles on it). Does it need adjustment? If so how would I do that? Please teel me its okay. I don't want to have to take out the tranny again.
that sounds like something from your input shaft, maybe the pilot bearing? Did you install a new pilot bearing with the clutch? I know you have to be careful with the E shaft there.... I'm not positive but I believe that if you hear noise when the clutch is disengaged in neutral, then its your pilot bearing and if you hear noise once you engage the clutch, then its your throwout bearing.

Yes I changed all of the bearings. I'm not to sure it's the pilot bearing though. Usually if it is the pilot bearing that is making the noise it will squeal like a stuck pig. The good thing is that I drove it today and didn't hear the noise. Maybe it was just the clutch disc matching surfaces with the flywheel.
