The AFM (air flow meter) is what your air filter is attached to.

i was wondering, does anyoner ever run a TID like that w/o a MAF, i never see that just a filter on the turbo. Why not try and get cold air in there?

Okay man how old are all the rubber lines in your engine bay( ie.. all original vacuum lines, some new some old,or all new)? If they are all original then you need to check the turbo inlet duct, the intercooler rubber couplings, the vacuum lines under the intercooler, and the lines at the front of your turbo. You should check for cracks and to make sure the are all firmly attatched. These are your #1 things to check. It sounds like your motor isn't blown, but because the problem started when you were really getting on it then you most likely popped off a line. If you had an ignition problem you would really have a rough ride from the car. It would also be really really hard to start. The other reason that I say it isn't the ignition is because when you drive the car it will act decent sometimes. If the ignition or coils were bad you most likely wouldn't be able to start the car at all.

like this? BDC's.. filter in down infront of the wheel. he says it lowered his intake temps at the throttle body (so after turbo and IC!) by 40F over having the filter in the engine bay.

I just spent 2 hours looking at hoses, nothing yet, looked at the suff before the turbo in front and around nothing! Getting ready to rip off the UIM to see what's under there. Just an update!!!
