I am trying to transplant a 13B engine from a 1st generation rx7 into my 2nd generation rx7. Everything works except the motor mounts. Has anyone run into this problem and if so what is the solution?

from a gsl-se right?
|
The motor is out of a 1980 rx7 and I'm trying to put it into a 1986 GL. I'm wondering if I can drill holes in the motor for the 86 mounts and change the oil pan to accomdate the new mounts. My concern is drilling holes in the motor and doing some damage to water jackets etc.
Any ideas? |
i heard u can drill holes in hockey pucks and use them

the only way to do it is to extent the stock front mounting plate back, but i dunno if that plate will clear the steering rack.

I think I have a solution: I will try to run a plate back from the front mounting bracket back and see where it will bolt up as suggested. I will also try to install the right side mount to limit the twisting of the motor. I'll let you know how it works.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
isn't that a 12A engine?
|
No it is not the 12A stock motor, it is a sweet 13b N/A motor that has been rebuilt with some modifications to get as much Hp as possible without a turbo. It is a simple motor, no efi or any other electronics to worry about, this baby is all mechanical.
can't wait to see what a difference there will be from the stock 13b. |
