he is right you dont have to remove the injectors/fuel rails from the car/manifold. basically you take off the upper intake to give you room to put a wrench on the pulsation damper. on the gsl-se you can put a wrench on the pd without pulling the intake

mike

I'm assuming this involves removing the fuel injectors?

you can buy the injector O-rings at Autozone, If you want I will pick them up and put them in the box at cost John

and should I just order the gasket, then?

this just in: I cancelled my order, at least until I can get all this clarified....I like making things complicated https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

you can either pull the intake off, and change the damper, or you can pull the intake off pull the fuel rails off and change the damper.

ok, you can call me slow, but why would I want to do the second method?

j9fd3s 02-06-2003 01:11 PM

um sometimes you are going in there to do other stuff as well, maybe the egr valve, or the lower intake gasket, metering lines. or you can say that since the damper is bad, maybe i should change the fuel injector o rings too, to prevent future leaks.

or you can polish stuff up...

Baldy 02-06-2003 01:16 PM

I'm getting a little overwhelmed....is it as difficult as it sounds? I've never taken stuff like that off before

and since I am going to go ahead and try this, are there other things I should do while I'm there? I'm thinking tb mod, since I'll have it off, but any reliability things? should I be doing the things you listed? I feel like a freakin 3-year-old here

j9fd3s 02-06-2003 01:23 PM

haha, theres 2 schools of thought

1. replace the part thats bad

2. replace the part thats bad and any other stuff you can while you have access to them.

3. restore the whole car from the ground up.

1. would replace the damper, and the uim to lim gasket

2. would replace the damper, the lower intake gasket, clean out the intake/6 ports, change the injector o rings, and the hoses going to the tb

3. well everything is new/rebuilt/cleaned/plated

2 sounds good...3 would be nice, but not right now (daily driver)

p/d (banzai)

gasket (wherever I can)

injector o-rings (autozone)

some hose (autozone?)

anything I'm missing? special tools that I can't afford, yet are required, perhaps?

j9fd3s 02-06-2003 01:36 PM

no special tools, its nice to have long needle nose pliers and the correct wrench for the damper. not needed but nice to have
