I forgot to metion something. The 86 GXL that I took this off of had 5 lug brakes (calipers were gone ) and I think it was an auto. Would a gxl like this have a LSD rear end and beefier sway-bars?

OK, so all S4 GXL models have the LSD diff, and all autos have the 3.9 rear gear. This GXL is a auto, I want to put a LSD in my car but I don't want the 3.9, would it be simple enough to get the entire diff, and just put a 4.1 or 4.3 in it? Maybe buy the entire sub-frame?

I am not sure if all S4 GXL models have the bigger anti-sway bars, coudl someone tell me for sure if they are, cuz tomorrow is the only day that I will have any help to get this stuff.

Yes, GXL's have the big brakes and big sway bars. The S4's had LSD. You could take the LSD from the wrecker and put just the LSD in your car. That way you'll have the 4.10 (if you have a manual) and LSD. The S4 LSD is a clutch type and the clutches may be toast. That's the nature of a clutch type LSD, they wear out. There are rebuild kits available.

Yes there are rebuild kits for the clutch LSD. I think you can get them at Mazdatrix, they even have stonger parts for them.

And from what I have read even though the GXL has the big brakes it doesn't have the rest of the heavy duty suspension liek teh Sport and TII S4's had, so I think the sway bars are just the regular ones.

I don't know what you read, but the GXLs came with the big brakes AND the big sway bars.

Why did you get the "86 style overflow"? I have one of those, and I switched to the other style.
