ok so I brought my E6K back to where my car is stored (it's been at home on my bench so I could work on my gauge/programming software over winter) and finally started the fc up waking it from hibernation. Just a bit of cranking a loud exhaust pop and vrewm, it springs to life. PC680 survived sitting in the loading bay for a few months, everything seems fine so far



So I took some photographs of the last things I did before storage, I had removed the speaker towers on the rear strut towers so I can do a proper cage/strut bar and shed that extra weight since I won't have those speakers... when I parked it I cleaned up the surface where I had to drill the spot welds and the bottom of the hatch area that used to have tar on it and sprayed some quick and dirty primer down to prevent any rust setting in over winter, I'm surprised with how good the surface turned out. Removing the tar scratches the primer & steel up a bit but this etching primer filled in the scratches really well.



I'm probably going to seam weld the strut towers on the rear and a few other spots on the car, then por15 the work areas.



If you guys decide to remove the speaker towers it's pretty easy just get a spot weld drill bit and a sawsall.

so how much did the tar weigh all together? i like your secondary garage...

 

Looks good man. I ended up scraping off all the tar and then wiping the rest off with paint thinner.



Wish one of my friends would have thought about the sawzall before he tried to take the tower caps off. He ended up using a hammer and screw driver. Now, I just have a bunch of holes that I need to weld up. Just havent had the time to. Meh, I guess Ill do that in the morning.

I did it in phases so I ended up disposing of bags of it every weekend, not sure on the total weight. Probably around 20lbs maximum total, likely a bit under.





As for the huge 'garage', it's the indoor loading bay at my work... we have a huge warehouse but everything is empty as we only use part of it for a datacenter and cubicle farm. Never recieve shipments in the loading bay so it's a heated indoor garage that is usually empty.





In one of the photographs you can see a hole where I pulled through up on the wheel well by the harness, drivers side. I got frustrated with stuff being in the way and pulled that one apart... I'll just weld it shut and grind it down before I paint the interior, at least it's not on the strut top... I was pretty careful with those spots.

Yea, Roadkill and I just finished that little project up in the rear too..had to weld the holes shut, grinded them down, primered/paint/etc...



now I need to get off my lazy *** and upload pics I guess...
