hey i just picked up a 87 t2 has like 50 miles on oil change they use royal purple stnthetic oil and i heard thats not good for rotery motors so what should i run?? and is the reason its so milky because its synthetic?? thanks,

 

Milky is usually an indication of water intrusion, however it's not normal for synthetic oil to mix with water, it usually sits separated, unlike dyno. I'd change it and keep an eye on it.

 

Milky oil is definitely not cool. How does the car run and idle? Is the cooling system full? Any funky gunk at the top of the radiator when you take the cap off?



I too would change it and keep an eye on it.





FWIW, I run Castrol 20W-50 in my '88 T2.

 

thanks, i checked the antifreeze its green doesnt seem to have any nasty stuff in there. ill drain that and oil change and keep a eye on it. thanks again
