No local rotary shops?

i think you may be able to get a warranty with a reman, not sure

if the dealer has to install it though.

there is local rotary shops, but the all charge atleast 3,500 for a rebuild, and that is if i take it out

we have all heard horror stories about rotory shops, but I wonder

who is doing the work for Mazda?

Mazda's criteria for a rotor housing within spec is pretty tight. If nothing else is new besides seals and bearings I would say that you stand a pretty good chance of getting new rotor housings. From what I have seen and read the irons are the most commonly re-used parts.



I would consider how much damage is done to your engine whether it be from something blowing up or just from wear-and-tear. Getting a Mazda reman with new parts is a whole lot cheaper than trying to piece a new motor together.



I think they have something like a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty.

I guess they have thier own people do it all and ship it everywhere, like

all the transmissions, engines, etc..

My dad bought a Mazda reman for his FD. It cost right around $2000, but he had a hook up. He was friends w/ a mechanic there that got the engine for him.



He beats the crap out of that FD and he has not had a single issue with it at all. Its been over a year now that he has had it and he is daily driving it 70 miles a day to and from work.



He races anyone that has something that looks like its a decent race. He now tells Mustang GT owners at lights he will not waste his gas racing them. LOL it pisses them off.

If I remember correctly: the Mazda remans are actually performed for Mazda under contract by AC Delco in Jacksonville Fla. Maazda used to maintain 2 shops (one east coast and one west coast) but they were having Quality control problems with the west coast, so they consolodated operations and contracted it out.

thats correct. they had problems and then they opened the new jaxonville facility (they do trannies too, lots and lot and lots and lots of them, they say ford on em...) and after about 2 years they contracted to ac delco who cam in and put all the counter wieghts in one bucket, so they had motors vibrating to peices. they seem to have, unlike the previous, learned how to build a decent motor.



we used to get motors with all kinds of wierd things, apex seal grooves missing, 0 compression, housings that were worse than your old ones, but they have gotten better lately
