Here is another that's probably been brought up before but I can't find it searching.... Can I just swap in the manual rack and pinion or do I need anything else to complete the swap? This is for my 88 NA.
Thanks! chris |
you can swap it righ in.
you can also loop the lines on the power steering rack and plug the other holes, then eliminate the pump... for a quicker ratio than the manual rack. I've heard of some problems with this method though but I'm trying it myself regardless. |
yah the manual rack goes right in, just be sure you get the brackets that hold it on, those are different

Which models are we looking for...I mean which trim package and year had the manual steering on it?
|
no 89-91's had manual racks. look for 86 base models. I think 88SE's dont have PS either.
|
any base model 86-88 can have a manual, they usually run about $100-150 rebuilt from the big chain autoparts stores.

just put mine in and yes they are hard to find.
