the oil pressure for my 1990 NA is in spec when its cold and i first start the car but is consistantly about 5 psi off the low end of the spec when its warm (10psi at idle, 55-60psi at 3k). I use valvoline 10w-30 and have a mechanical oil pressure gague so i'm pretty sure its accurate. is this anything to be worried about? would using thicker oil raise the pressure back up in to specs?

thanks for any help

It is a little low at idle, but nothing to lose sleep over.

unless its the warmer months I would stick to 10-30 or 10-40

there is alot of debate on thicker oil and oil pressure, one of them being thicker oil will take more to pump thru the engine when its colder out, giving the impression that oil pressure is increased, its basically saying your oil pressure is increased because the oil is having a harder time getting circulated, so its actually doing more harm then good.

in the warmer months I switch over to thicker oil.
