was cruiseing at about 40 MPH tonight when all of a sudden i heard a loud pop, didnt think much of it untill i stopped to get a hamburger, my idle was all over the place, anywhere from 1,200RPM's down to 200. decided it was time to get home, so i headed home, about a block and a half away the car died when i let off the gas, that made me somewhat concerned, but it started right back up, got home and popped the hood, and the idle was still all over the place, and i can hear a hissing of air i think when the idle goes up... im stumpped, anyone have any suggestion's?? i've checked vac line's, anything suspension related (because of the pop) and pretty much everything i can think of and im out of stuff to check

The "pop" may have been a vac line blowing off, it is really hard to check all the vac lines without taking the upper and middle intake manifolds off. My guess is the pulsing idle is a result of a vacuum leak somewhere.

it could be any, alomost any of them will make a pulsing idle, mines always on my boost sensor, that one always comes off and causes pulsing.

Personally I wouldn't drive the car until it was fixed. I didn't hear the "pop" either so all I can do is speculate what might have happened.

Other than the pulsing idle, does it have the same power output?

Does the idle ever stop pulsing? at any rpm?

Have you molested the car? upgrades for ported motor?
