I need to put new brakes, suspension, tires, exhuast, cat, electric airpump, and i guess an safc or something for tuning. I dont want to do this all ghetto but as cheap as possable since money is going to be real tight now. Any ideas on where to find some of this stuff cheap? I got to make this car drive well now, before all the little things didnt matter.

phinsup 03-01-2005 01:39 PM

Why the SAFC? It's kind of a waste of money on the NA if you ask me. Maybe if you were going to upgrade injectors and run a monster bridge port. I just sold one cheap too LOL

Why do an airpump at all, you live in FL, cut the cats and axe the airpump.

Tons of sources for cheap parts out there. I dunno if I would do springs, unless you want to lower it, if you do check the spring rates cause the vert springs are stiffer then most of the aftermarket sets.

Seppuku 03-01-2005 01:48 PM

car runs horribly rich right now i wanted the safc to tune it and try and get a little better mpg out of it. The cat and airpump becuase the smell is driving me crazy now. And the stock suspension is worn out so i need springs, struts, bushings, and all the good ****. and the exhuast has leaks and is blown out a little so a new catback.

Rob x-7 03-01-2005 02:11 PM

Racing Beat now sells vert specific springs

Shane.Trammell 03-01-2005 02:13 PM

if it runs too rich you should be able to adjust it out. have you tried setting your tps?

Seppuku 03-01-2005 02:53 PM

TPS is set no vacuum leaks or anything else, ive spent a lot of time under the hood of this car. But the problem is I have no emmisions left on it or anything else so now im trying to get it to run a little better, guess im going ass backwards though.

phinsup 03-01-2005 02:56 PM

I've never had the emissions crap being axed cause the car to run poorly.

You might try fixing the exhaust leak before going to the effort of putting all the emissions stuff back on.

Like I said before, there's no reason that you should need a AFC for a near stock motor, NA especially. It's amazing you are running rich with stock injectors, those suckers run close to capacity as it is.

You want good gas milage you picked the wrong car LOL

Rob x-7 03-01-2005 02:59 PM

that car can get 20mpg with the AC on in traffic, on a open road with no ac you can push 25 easy.

phinsup 03-01-2005 03:01 PM

And the way I drive you can get at least 15! LOL

Rob x-7 03-01-2005 03:02 PM

I dont get why people just dont leave the cars alone

try to get 5-10 more hp and ruin the driveability of it

thats what im sayin girlfriend, all stock what what!

Seppuku 03-01-2005 03:12 PM

My intentions were never to try and make more a little more power rob a lot of the stock things were no longer working cost of new versus removing it i did what made sense at the time. Now im needing to drive the car more and not just a fun ride on the weekend.

Edit: the motor isnt really my main concern either, the suspension is. The tread wear is horrable with all the camber in it and i need to fix all that before i spend money on good new tires.

Rob x-7 03-01-2005 03:27 PM

I have never really heard of the emissions stuff breaking, the NA cars are reliable when left alone.

Cats get clogged all the time.

Like I said, I've never had emissions effect drivability.

Seppuku 03-01-2005 03:50 PM

I had clogged cats which i remvoed, then the air pump followed, and acv, then i removed the "rats nest", egr valve, the omp was leaking so it was removed, im know theres more im forgetting. Anyway just added up parts for the suspension and to do the rear its gonna be 166.80 for springs, end links, and dtss eliminators. Hopefuly that will fix most of the weirdness in the rear and the camber issue.

What gives you the idea you are running rich? Do the plugs show it or you got A/F numbers? Run a bottle of Lucas injector treatment thru the motor, I usually run a full bottle to a half tank and run the piss out of the car. Helps a little bit but it usually takes a tank or so to see the difference.

teknics 03-01-2005 04:49 PM

i dont know if id trust injector cleaner, even in mazda's batch of TSBs they note that some fuel injector cleaners can cause problems, they specify a specific type but i dont remember it off-hand.
