i know that the high heat of the rotary and the premix kills sensors fast.

how do you know if the sensor is bad ? will it read an error ? or can it be bad with out you even knowing it, giving you improper readings

It will say "sensor timing error" if you overheat it.



I've only had this occur if the timing is too retarded, 6" out from the turbine housing.



I usually put several bungs in the d/p so I can go to 12" if its a problem...



Check into the Lm-1 HBx-1

 

i used a innovate lm1 with my turbo fc with pre mix. i have to constently calibrate the damn sensor and its mostly due to heat. the sensor reads multiple errors mostly after a full boost pull. but is accurate when it works. just put the sensor down stream far away from the turbo,,,,,,,,, this was what innovate told me to do. it got better but still aint too good.

 

can the sensor read inacuratly with out giveing an error?

or they pretty good about giving an error code

 

If you overtemp it will always give the error instead of giving false readings.



I don't know what the sensor will do if it goes bad. I'd imagine it would just keep giving error codes. I check mine versus a dyno from time to time to be sure...

does anyone know a cheap place to purchase extra sensors?? my friend is to scared to let me use his sensor he htinks ill burn it out haha .....

 

Any VW dealer. The newer Jettas use the same sensor. It'll probably cost you around $40.

they are anwhere from 40 to 60 from what i have seen



i put atleast 10k miles on my rx7 last year (daily drove a t04s cosmo-re fc to work 65mil round trip) and my lm1 still works this year



i overheated the sensor a few times and got the bad input error or it would just say 'to rich' , i woudl just drive a min or 2 and turn off/on the senor a few times, it would cool enough to function. guess the sitting would heatsoak it
