1/4 of the way sounds about right to be honest, it may be a little much. He could have glazed it a little depending on how bad he dumped it.

Had a friend of mine do it in an old Ford truck about 8.5 minutes after we put the clutch in, his driveway was steap, we took it for a spin around the block and he started roasting it pulling into the driveway... I couldn't believe it.

I wouldn't be to worried about it, unless it is a significant difference from when you initially put the clutch in. Btw, when you say "piece" do you mean it as in a piece of pie, or "peace," like hippy stuff. Just wondering because everytime I see "piece" I'm thinking a piece of something, lol.

did you bleed all the air out? Sometimes air rises and changes the pedal feel, and or......make sure you don't have a leak in your hose lines.. But that really sounds about right

Good point, my new clutch seemed to engage too early also until I bled it a couple times after "break in"... it's fine now.
