ok 2 days ago i started hearing this annoying clicking noise everytime i pushed my clutch in to shift. not a big deal other than my other 7 is out of the picture for a while(thanks to a friend hitting an elk and needing a car) and i would just really like to know what it is and if its so important that i couldnt just remove it or some how move it to stop the clicking noise.

I've got the same thing happening on mine, annoying as hell.

I'm guessing it needs to be replaced.

The plastic "button" on the swing arm of the clutch pedal contacts a switch when the pedal is released or in the up position. The switch is part of the cruise control and shift up light. Normally, on an S4, the clicking starts when the plastic button is broken or missing.

Interesting. I had this problem for the first time for maybe 10 minutes while driving and I haven't had it since. It clicked whenever I pushed down on the clutch, which is quite often :/
