it looks like im going to try to do the cosmo pulley set up, anyone have any info on that set retaining the AC but no PS?
or has anyone ever used a FD or cosmo AC compressor on a S5 TII motor?

i looked into it, i actually got it setup with the FC PS on a Vbelt originally. You just need to stack the main pulley properly to get the correct spacing. It should be possible to run the FD AC pump if you have the FD bracket. Two of the holes line up with the FC studs, you'll have to drill two and adapt the lines to fit. Getting the lines to fit might be the most difficult part.

I bought the FD alternator from the evil forum. He included the pulley and the connector plug. I just a straight rewire. No relays. I see 12.5 volts at idle. As soon as I rev a little bit. It jumps to 14.0v and stays there.

On a related note, what component typically craps out on these units? IC Regulator? Rectifier? I had one go bad--it pretty much just quit charging--and swapped it out with the one on my parts car. I really don't have any power hungry devices installed. As little as this car gets driven, I may elect to have the old one repaired or do it myself, then keep it as a spare.

Usually at idle you will see really low volts. This is due to the car not being under any load. So it's really no cause for alarm. In your case, you probably just got the rotten apple. Theese Alts don't have a fetish of going out.

You don't even have to use the plug for it. I forgot the name of the fitting, but most people use them for wiring projects, etc. I have a plug off a skyline, but didn't want to go through the process of ripping out the old wires and inserting the new ones.

Same here , i get like 12~V at idle and max 13~ with load. Thing is i need to wire in a few things like a new fuel pump, some guages and CDI . All of which is gonna suck juice . And i do not think the stock alternator is going to cut it .
Can the alternator be rebuild to put out more amps ? oh...and pics :P need more pics ..haha..
