He said that it was transmission fluid. If it is the rear stationary gear seal, it would be leaking oil.

I am confussed also. He cant be leaking trans fluid. Isnt the input shaft higher than fill level on the 5 speed trans to begin with? If he's not leaking trans fluid or gear oil, then it is the rear main seal on the engine.

That is a possiblty too. But a guy at work told me that the front trans shaft can sometimes have dirt get in the seal and cause a grove. He said that I should look for a sleeve or adapter that pushes the seal out just a little more and will seal the trans. Have any of you guys heard of something like this? Thanks.
