Hello. I just noticed that there are some oil puddels on my drive way. So i looked under my car and noticed that it is leaking what seems to be transmission oil. I say this because it is leaking from the transmission. Near where the trans meets the engine there is a rubber cap on the bottom of the transmission. Just behind it is where the ledge goes up from the housing. There is a small hole the size that a small bolt might go through. I do not remember when I had the transmission out there being a hole or anything that was leaking. The thing that I do not get is that when I had it out I do not remember that area being where fluid might have been stored. I am looking for ideas on how to stop the leak permanetly besides duck tape. I know for a fact that is where the leak is comming from because I can see it leaking when im under the car. Thanks.

well its either the rear of the engine, and or the front of the trans. either one is pretty simple but you do need to pull the trans or the engine to fix it.
|
that or your U joint is F'd and oil is leaking past the rear oil seal on the tail of the transmission and spraying and spewing oil everywhere.

my brother and I are thinking that we could try pluging it with jbweld. Its only leaking from this one hole. I'll have a better look at it tomorrow.

If the hole you speak of is in the bell housing and you are infact leaking trans fluid, you most likely have a broken front seal in the trans.
|
thats what i'm thinking now. I'm not looking forward to dropping the trans again though.

You cant plug that hole, Thats where your clutch and flywheel is. Your bell housing will just fill with oil.
Rear main (stat gear) seal, front and rear trans seals, and include a clutch disk in that project, your gonna need one. And do the T/O and pilot bearings now that your in there. The parts aint too expensive, theres some labor. |
I just spent the last 5 hours and change dropping, fixing, and reinstalling my transmission. I had a seal kit but did not use it the first time because I did not think that my old one was bad since I did not take off that section. But that was where the leak was coming from. I put the new one in and it is holding better. I hope to not have to do that again for a long time.

well the damn thing is leaking agian. Its slower this time. I freakin replaced the seals and put sealer glue on it too. The bolts were tightened to torque spec equally around. I have no idea why it is leaking. Its coming from the same hole. Any ideas on what to do or what is causing it?
