Jdm Engine Replacement
#1
I have an 86' n/a 5-speed. I'm not sure what model, but it has 4-bolt wheels. No power anything. The body is in perfect codition and I bought the car dirt cheap. Here is what I am wondering. I want to put a turbo on the engine. Instead of putting the turbo on the stock engine I have elected to put a new motor in it. I found a complete engine to put in it, but don't know that much about a jdm engines. The engine is a 13b RE-twin Turbo. What is the difference between it and the us engines, I have not heard of the RE part? What my question is will the motor mount up to the stock tranny, I know that my drivetrain is not heavy enough for the engine? I was also wondering what kind of ecu I would use? Would an ecu out of a 3rd gen car work? Also will the engine mounts be the same? Any information would be apprecited. Thank you.

damn
i dont even know where to start but your gonna have to change your drivetrain maybe your rear end if you want it to last, ecu, exhaust (downpipe no headers)
and this not even the 2nd gen engine
its 3rd gen unless they did some kind of setup
lots of a cables are gonna be needed and needed to be taken out
and youll prolly need an expert to do this and also...............
a lot of money

dude, that's a real nice engine...
You will need
Tranny, all rear end and driveline parts, computer... different engine subframe
and a whole lot of money and time
It's not going to be an easy transplant.. but will be damn worth it once done.

So the new engine wont mount up to the n/a trany? will the tii drive train bolt in or will I have to modify anything, what are K2RD engine mounts, and where do I get them? Could I use the ecu out of a third gen car instead of a management system?
